Auction success

02 Jul, 2009 11:09 AM
THE Merredin Fines Arts Society bush fire and flood appeal auction has been described as a huge success.

Fine Arts Society president Gail Law said members were overwhelmed by the support the society received from the community.

The art and craft auction was conducted at Venue 68 in Bates Street during a wine and cheese evening to raise funds for the Victorian bush fire and Queensland flood appeals.

Mrs Law said nearly 100 people attended the Friday evening event and all but three auction items were sold.

Other donated art and craft items were sold during an art exhibition on Saturday and Sunday.

Mrs Law said the society raised about $12,000 through the auction, sales and donations.

Elders’ auctioneer Wayne Manoni kept the Friday night crowd entertained and enthused as he encouraged bidding for the worthy cause.
