Man threatens staff with replica pistol

10 Feb, 2012 03:15 PM
A 39-year-old male has been charged after he allegedly entered the Wheatbelt Agcare centre in Nungarin yesterday and threatened staff with a replica pistol.

Acting Senior Sergeant Shane Crook said the Agcare staff were able to escape safely and contact police.

He said police searched the area and located the man in a laneway in town.

He was then brought back to the Merredin police station where he was questioned and later charged with allegedly being armed with intent to cause fear and deprivation of liberty.

Police are continuing enquiries into the incident.

The man is appearing in Perth Magistrates Court today.
