Merredin farewells Alderton

03 Feb, 2012 10:16 AM
MERREDIN local Bob Alderton is saying goodbye to his home, friends, job and his basketball days to take on new and different challenges in Corrigin.

Alderton said he was going to miss his home town and his days on the basketball court with his team the Barbarians, but nevertheless was looking forward to exciting prospects in Corrigin.

The former merchandise manager at Elders Merredin was offered a great career opportunity to take on the branch manager role at Landmark Corrigin which he could not pass up.

Although Alderton was born in Merredin, he’s no stranger to moving elsewhere, having lived and spent some time in Kondinin, Narembeen and Perth.

While reflecting on the good times he’s spent in Merredin, one of his most memorable experiences was winning the 2010 men’s basketball grand final which saw the ‘old guys’ come out on top.

When asked whether the team could repeat their glory and success this year he joked that without him they don’t have a chance.

Friends in Merredin wished Bob Alderton all the best with his new life in Corrigin.
