THE Merredin Shire council saw some significant changes last Tuesday at the council meeting when the newly elected councillors were sworn into office and a new president and deputy president were elected.
Councillors Tracey McFarlane, Dionne Hayes-Thompson and Bradley Anderson were elected into office for a four-year term and Councillor Debbie Morris has a two-year term in office elected by the public on Saturday, October 15, to represent the Merredin community.
Merredin Shire returning officer Erica Carlson said the election vote return rate finished at 48.97 per cent and up to October 14, the return rate was only 37.65 per cent.
At the shire meeting, Councillor Donna Crook was elected the new shire president and Councillor Martin Morris was elected the new deputy shire president.
