A 41-year-old South Doodlakine woman appeared in the Merredin Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged by the RSPCA with breaching a court-imposed banning order after she was found to be in possession of a large number of animals.
The woman is currently subject to an order issued by Midland Magistrates Court on August 4, 2004 which prohibits her from having contact with any animal for a period of 10 years.
On January 24, 2012, an RSPCA inspector, assisted by police and council rangers, executed a search warrant on the woman’s property and allegedly found no less than 41 dogs of various breeds and ages.
Allegedly, the dogs and puppies were segregated according to breed in different areas as well as a miniature pony stallion, twelve on the dogs were found in an underground bunker like facility.
The woman was subsequently arrested by police and charged with other matters including obstructing public officers, stealing and giving false or misleading information to an inspector.
The animals are now in the care of the RSPCA.
Charges have been remanded and she will appear in the Merredin Magistrates Court on April 11.
