25 Feb, 2010 10:51 AM
NAREMBEEN District High School started off the year by welcoming new teacher Duane Keating, who has spent his life travelling all over the world.

Originally from a small coastal town in New Zealand, Mr Keating attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada where he obtained a Bachelor of Human Kinetics.

He spent more than seven years enjoying the outdoors of British Columbia with activities like mountain biking, snowboarding and hiking.

He then worked for more than three years for Royal Caribbean International as a youth instructor sailing the Caribbean, Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands.

He worked in Asia for five years as a teacher experiencing great sights and food.

Recently he completed his Graduate Diploma of Education at the University of Western Australia in high school physical education and has moved to Narembeen to enjoy the country teaching experience.

He is sure to keep the children and locals entertained with the stories of his many exciting life experiences.

Meanwhile, the school year at Narembeen is off to a good start with 11 new students starting at the kindergarten.
