THE first game of the second half of the season started last Thursday night with some mixed results.

In the men’s division, OPS forfeited against Titans.

Bulls won over Nukarni 30 to 23 and the best players were Ryan Meldrum, JR Gameno and Will Morris.

Mustangs played well to defeat Storm 33-21 with Christian Palta, Jarryd Phoebe and Sean Dunn all getting the votes from the umpires.

Barbarians had a good win over the depleted Expendables with Scott Cooper leading the way for Barbarians along with Tom Hooper and Joss King.

In the women’s B-grade, Benchwarmers started with a good win over Fusions 21-13.

Kerryn Elliott, Tash Caplan and Vanessa Morris all played well for their teams.

Sapphires recorded a good win over Slamets 41-20 and best players were Laura Galic, Sophie Hoskens and Maddison Simmonds.

Patriots have started the season well recording a nine point win over Fury 29-20 with Kylie Howard, Renee Manning and Sheridan Carlson all playing well.

The women’s A-grade competition saw Mystic take on Burra with Mystics coming away winners 21-24.

Louise Davies and Amanda Wood combined well together for Burra and Jamie-Lee Walker played a great game for Mystics.

Vets won over Suns 35-25 with Sue Kerse and Shelley Lombardini running hard and defending well for Vets and Elaine Harris got the votes for Suns.

Sonics continued on their winning way having a solid win over Kella 42-9.

Best players were Brooke Cragan, Sophie Alderton and Anna Stevens-McClelland.

Teams are reminded that there will be an umpire and coaching clinic this weekend and for those who are interested contact Jess Anson to register.

This is a free clinic and needs to be well supported as the association is trying to develop coaching and umpiring.

Senior teams are reminded that they must pay a fill-in fee of $5 for non registered players before they play.

For players to play finals, players must have played six games if they commenced before the Christmas break and three games if they commenced from February.

For those who are unsure of this please see Judy Jefferys at basketball to confirm players’ eligibility.
