AT THE 2012 Cricket Country Week played last month, Eastern Districts had a very successful Senior Country Week in the B-grade section.
The week was held from January 15-21 and Eastern Districts won four games and tied one game to make the final against South Midlands which was played at Stan Twight Reserve in Rockingham.
Captain Stuart Yandle did a great job of organising the team for Country Week.
The final was a close game that could have gone either way but South Midlands managed to pass Eastern Districts’ score of 211, with eight wickets down, to win the match.
Eastern Districts’ batters struggled against South Midlands and it was only a terrific 142 not out by G Yandle and a last wicket partnership of 77 runs between Yandle and Gmeiner that got them to 211.
South Midlands chased down the score in the 50th over.
In the final game, highlights for batting were G Yandle 142, D Bow 24 and C Gmeiner 7.
